Oh man I go to school a block away from there...it is not for me. I wouldn't fit in their environment at all! Also I am already taking classes there for my senior year.

First of all, remember UC Berkeley has an odd application deadline. I didn't apply there (even though I filled out the whole app) because I found out about the deadline too late to get recommendations.

A for a public school east of the Mississippi, New College of Florida is an excellent choice. It's one of the three best public liberal arts schools in the country and works similar to John Dewey High School. No grades, just write-ups, and you formulate a highly individualized course of study with your adviser. A friend of mine is there now if you want someone to ask.

Also University of Michigan is a solid school. It's kind of large but it's really good and they work to maintain a smaller community feel on a larger campus.

Okay, these are good hints Rafa! I am starting all my apps this summer. I don't remember if you did or not. I am considering applying to both U of C and NYU with non-binding early action, and then not applying anywhere else if I got in.
NCF and UMich are on my radar, also UNC.

my comments are as follows:
-i have no doubt you will get into most if not all of those phenomenal schools
-i applaud you on choices that are ambitious, but more importantly that you've decided will be an appropriate environment for your higher education
-the basic courses most take during their first two years of college are standardized and probably the only difference between taking them at American or Berkeley or a community college are in the tuition fee; JUST putting it out there (because my mom wont stop drilling me about it)

I AM SCARED TOO but i thought about it and my family is soooo close and sooo sheltering I was thinking about it the other day and I just want to throw myself out there!! My college will catch me.

Also I am so full of shit because both of my first choices are cities where I have lots of family.

Well, almost every school on my list has a distinct core curriculum for their required courses which are different from any other school (especially U of C and Columbia). Brown doesn't even have asic requirements.
Basic, my ideal college experience is to pursue all of my geeky desires. After college I want to go to seminary really badly, which is set up so you learn everything you need to know, no matter what you learned in school. But thanks for the tips.

If I thought I had a remote chance of getting in, Brown would be the first place I'd apply.
I haven't seen you in forever, but I feel like you'd do well in settings both like Brown & NYU.
YOU CAN DO IT!

YO SERIOUSLY. I don't talk to dunya much, and I rarely have an opening to come to dc to hang, but we definitely should.
You name the time, I'll figure it out.
